Level 12 · Lesson 2 సామాన్య వాక్యం
The simple sentence
ఒకే ఒక సమాపక క్రియ ఉన్నది సామాన్య వాక్యం; పదాలు వాక్యంగా నిలవాలంటే ఆకాంక్ష, యోగ్యత, ఆసత్తి మూడూ కావాలి.
One finite verb makes one simple sentence, and three classical conditions must hold for the words to cohere.
గుర్తు చేసుకోండి · You already know this
రైతు పొలంలో పని చేశాడు has five words but only one finite verb. వర్షం పడింది, పంట పండింది has fewer words and two finite verbs. Length is not what classifies a Telugu sentence — the count of samāpaka verbs is, and you learned to spot those back in Level 10.
సూత్రాలు · The rules
విశేషణాలు, క్రియా విశేషణాలు, విభక్తి పదాలు ఎన్ని చేరినా వాక్యం సామాన్యంగానే ఉంటుంది. 'ఆ చిన్న పిల్లవాడు నిన్న ఉదయం తన స్నేహితుడితో కలిసి బడికి వెళ్ళాడు' — పదకొండు పదాలు, ఒక్కటే క్రియ, కాబట్టి సామాన్య వాక్యమే.
Adjectives, adverbs and case-marked phrases can pile up without changing the classification. ఆ చిన్న పిల్లవాడు నిన్న ఉదయం తన స్నేహితుడితో కలిసి బడికి వెళ్ళాడు runs to eleven words and is still simple, because only వెళ్ళాడు carries a personal ending.
Hear తిన్నాడు on its own and your mind immediately asks who? and what? That pull is ఆకాంక్ష. రాముడు పండును తిన్నాడు satisfies it and the sentence stands. Where the expectancy is left unanswered, the words hang unfinished — which is exactly why 'ఎఱ్ఱని పెద్ద ఇల్లు' was not a sentence in the last lesson.
'రైతు నిప్పుతో పొలాన్ని తడిపాడు' అనే మాటలో ఆకాంక్ష తీరింది, పదక్రమం సరిగానే ఉంది, విభక్తులూ సరైనవే. అయినా అది వాక్యం కాదు — నిప్పు తడపదు. అర్థాల మధ్య పొందిక లేకపోవడమే యోగ్యత లోపం.
రైతు నిప్పుతో పొలాన్ని తడిపాడు — the farmer watered the field with fire — has every ending right and every expectancy answered, and is still not a sentence. Fire does not wet. That mismatch of meanings is a failure of యోగ్యత, and no amount of correct grammar repairs it.
Say రాముడు today and వచ్చాడు tomorrow and you have not made a sentence. The same holds on the page: words that belong together must not be flung apart. This is the classical justification for keeping a modifier next to what it modifies instead of stranding it across a long parenthesis.
ప్రక్రియ · Step by step
