సీత — నదిలో నీళ్ళు ఎక్కువగా ఉన్నాయా?
Is there a lot of water in the river?

There is. Behind the river there is a high hill, and on the hill there is a small temple.
సీత — మీరు గుడికి వెళ్ళారా?
Did you go to the temple?
రవి — వెళ్ళాము. కొండ మీద నుండి పచ్చని పొలాలు చూశాము. ఊరి వెనుక అడవి కూడా ఉంది.
We did. From the hill we saw green fields. There is a forest behind the village too.
సీత — సముద్రం చూశారా?
Did you see the sea?
రవి — చూడలేదు. మా ఊరి దగ్గర సముద్రం లేదు.
We did not. There is no sea near our village.

వివరణ · Explanation

పెద్ద నది. ఎత్తైన కొండ. పచ్చని పొలం. — ఒక కొండ ఉంది. రెండు కొండలు ఉన్నాయి.

A landscape sentence needs only two things you already have: an adjective from this level and the verb ఉంది. The adjective stands first and never changes — పెద్ద నది, ఎత్తైన కొండ, పచ్చని పొలం. A river, a hill, a field are all అమహత్తు, so one of them takes ఉంది and more than one takes ఉన్నాయి: ఒక కొండ ఉంది beside రెండు కొండలు ఉన్నాయి.

మేము ఊరికి వెళ్ళాము. ఊరి పక్కన నది ఉంది. మేము కొండ మీద గుడికి వెళ్ళాము.

Watch how the story moves between two tenses. What you did is in the past — వెళ్ళాము, చూశాము — but the river and the hill are described with plain ఉంది. A hill does not stop standing there when your journey ends, so Telugu keeps the description in the present even inside a past story. Only the events take a past form.

నది — నదులు. కొండ — కొండలు. అడవి — అడవులు. పొలం — పొలాలు. సముద్రం — సముద్రాలు.

Learn each plural with its word; the endings differ and there is nothing to work out. After that the place words of level 3 do the rest of the describing for you: నది పక్కన (beside the river), కొండ మీద (on the hill), పొలంలో (in the field), అడవిలో (in the forest), ఊరి దగ్గర (near the village).

మీరే చెప్పండి · Use it

మీరు చూసిన ఒక ఊరిని వర్ణించండి — 'నేను ________ వెళ్ళాను. అక్కడ ఒక పెద్ద నది ఉంది. ఊరి వెనుక ఎత్తైన కొండ ఉంది.'

Describe a place you have actually been to, in four sentences. Open with the past — నేను … వెళ్ళాను or మేము … వెళ్ళాము — and then switch to ఉంది and ఉన్నాయి for everything that is still standing there: the river, the hill, the fields, the forest. Close with one thing you did not see, using చూడలేదు. Say the whole description aloud twice, keeping the adjective firmly in front of its noun.
