నిన్న ఎందుకు రాలేదు?

ఉపాధ్యాయుడు — నిన్న నువ్వు బడికి రాలేదు. ఎందుకు?
You did not come to school yesterday. Why?
రవి — నేను రాలేదు, ఎందుకంటే నాకు జ్వరం వచ్చింది.
I did not come, because I got a fever.
ఉపాధ్యాయుడు — ఇప్పుడు జ్వరం ఉందా?
Do you have a fever now?
రవి — లేదు. ఇప్పుడు నేను చదవగలను.
No. I can study now.
ఉపాధ్యాయుడు — నిన్న తరగతిలో పాఠం జరిగింది. కాబట్టి నువ్వు ఈరోజు ఆ పాఠం చదవాలి.
Yesterday the lesson happened in class. So you must read that lesson today.
రవి — సరే. కానీ నా దగ్గర పుస్తకం లేదు.
All right. But I do not have the book.
ఉపాధ్యాయుడు — పుస్తకం గ్రంథాలయంలో ఉంది. అందుకే నువ్వు గ్రంథాలయానికి వెళ్ళాలి.
The book is in the library. That is why you must go to the library.
రవి — ధన్యవాదాలు. వెంటనే వెళ్తాను.
Thank you. I will go at once.

వివరణ · Explanation

ప్రశ్న 'ఎందుకు?' జవాబులో ముందు పని, తరువాత కారణం — 'నేను రాలేదు, ఎందుకంటే నాకు జ్వరం వచ్చింది.'

Ask with ఎందుకు? and answer with ఎందుకంటే. The order matters: what happened comes first, and ఎందుకంటే opens the second half, which carries the reason. The word is built out of ఎందుకు plus a form meaning 'if one says', so the sentence literally runs 'I did not come — if you ask why, I got a fever'. English puts 'because' in the same place, so this one is easy to feel.

'కాబట్టి' — ముందు కారణం, తరువాత పని. 'బస్సు రాలేదు, కాబట్టి నేను వెళ్ళలేదు.' 'అందుకే' రెండో వాక్యం ముందు — 'బస్సు రాలేదు. అందుకే నేను వెళ్ళలేదు.'

కాబట్టి and అందుకే turn the sentence around: the reason comes first and the result follows. కాబట్టి sits at the end of the reason clause, and అందుకే opens a fresh sentence — that is why. So one situation gives you three ways to say it: నేను వెళ్ళలేదు, ఎందుకంటే బస్సు రాలేదు; బస్సు రాలేదు, కాబట్టి నేను వెళ్ళలేదు; బస్సు రాలేదు. అందుకే నేను వెళ్ళలేదు.

'వల్ల' పదం తరువాత వస్తుంది — 'జ్వరం వల్ల', 'పని వల్ల', 'నా వల్ల'.

వల్ల is different: it does not join two clauses but attaches to a single noun, giving 'because of' — జ్వరం వల్ల నేను రాలేదు (I did not come because of fever), పని వల్ల ఆమె రాలేదు. With a pronoun it takes the possessive form you already know: నా వల్ల, మీ వల్ల. Use ఎందుకంటే when the reason is a whole sentence, and వల్ల when it is one word.

మీరే చెప్పండి · Use it

ఒక పని చెప్పండి, తరువాత కారణం చెప్పండి — 'నేను … ఎందుకంటే …'. ఇప్పుడు అదే మాటను 'కాబట్టి' తో చెప్పండి. తరువాత 'అందుకే' తో చెప్పండి.

Think of one thing you did not do yesterday. Say it three ways aloud: నేను బడికి వెళ్ళలేదు, ఎందుకంటే నాకు జ్వరం వచ్చింది — then నాకు జ్వరం వచ్చింది, కాబట్టి నేను బడికి వెళ్ళలేదు — then the same with అందుకే opening the second sentence. Finally squeeze the reason into one word with వల్ల: జ్వరం వల్ల నేను వెళ్ళలేదు.
