-తున్న- అంటే ఇప్పుడు జరుగుతున్న పని. దీని పేరు వర్తమానం. చేస్తున్నాను, చేస్తున్నావు, చేస్తున్నాడు, చేస్తోంది, చేస్తున్నాము, చేస్తున్నారు, చేస్తున్నాయి.
The form you have been using since level 2 has a name: వర్తమానం, the present. Its mark is -తున్న-, and the personal ending follows it — చేస్తున్నాను (I am doing), చేస్తున్నావు (you, friend), చేస్తున్నాడు (he), చేస్తున్నాము (we), చేస్తున్నారు (you respectful, or they), చేస్తున్నాయి (several things). It says one thing only: this is going on right now.
చేస్తాను — ఇందులో కాలం లేదు. రేపు చేస్తాను. ప్రతిరోజూ చేస్తాను. రెండూ ఒకే రూపం.
The form from the last lesson, చేస్తాను, carries no 'now' in it at all. That is why it does two jobs: రేపు వెళ్తాను is 'I will go tomorrow', and ప్రతిరోజూ వెళ్తాను is 'I go every day'. English needs two different tenses there; Telugu uses one form and lets the time word do the work. So put ఇప్పుడు with -తున్న-, and put రేపు or ప్రతిరోజూ with -తా-.

For one woman or one non-human thing the two forms look alike, so learn them as a pair: ఆమె ఇప్పుడు వంట చేస్తోంది (she is cooking now) but ఆమె రేపు వంట చేస్తుంది (she will cook tomorrow). Likewise వస్తోంది / వస్తుంది, చదువుతోంది / చదువుతుంది. The -ఓం- of చేస్తోంది is the present; the plain -ఉం- of చేస్తుంది is the tenseless form.
