వివరణ · Explanation

నేను చేస్తాను · నువ్వు చేస్తావు · మేము చేస్తాము · మీరు చేస్తారు · అతను చేస్తాడు · ఆమె చేస్తుంది · వాళ్ళు చేస్తారు · అవి చేస్తాయి.

This is the third and last set of endings you need. Take the piece -తా- and hang on it the very same person endings as before: చేస్తాను, చేస్తావు, చేస్తాము, చేస్తారు, చేస్తాడు. The మహత్తు and అమహత్తు split works exactly as it did in the past — ఆమె చేస్తుంది and అది చేస్తుంది share one form, while వాళ్ళు చేస్తారు and అవి చేస్తాయి part company.

రేపు నేను ఊరికి వెళ్తాను. ప్రతిరోజూ నేను ఆరు గంటలకు లేస్తాను.

This one form does two jobs that English keeps apart. With రేపు or ఎల్లుండి it is the future — రేపు నేను వస్తాను, 'I will come tomorrow'. With ప్రతిరోజూ, or with no time word at all, it states a habit or a plain fact — ప్రతిరోజూ నేను లేస్తాను, 'I get up every day'; అమ్మ వంట చేస్తుంది, 'mother cooks'. Telugu simply does not need a separate future tense, and that is why grammars often call this the tenseless form.

వచ్చు — వస్తాను, వస్తావు, వస్తాడు, వస్తుంది, వస్తారు. ఉండు — ఉంటాను, ఉంటాడు, ఉంటుంది, ఉంటారు.

Two verbs worth memorising whole, because you will use them daily. వచ్చు gives వస్తాను / వస్తాడు, and ఉండు — 'be, stay' — gives ఉంటాను / ఉంటాడు. నేను ఇంట్లో ఉంటాను is how you promise to be at home, and నేను వస్తాను is how you accept an invitation. రేపు is tomorrow and ఎల్లుండి is the day after, matching నిన్న and మొన్న on the other side of today.

మీరే చెప్పండి · Use it

ఇప్పుడు మీరే చెప్పండి — 'రేపు నేను ________ వెళ్తాను. ఎల్లుండి నేను ________ ఉంటాను. ప్రతిరోజూ నేను ________ చేస్తాను.'

Plan the next two days aloud. Say where you will go tomorrow (రేపు నేను … వెళ్తాను), where you will be the day after (ఎల్లుండి నేను … ఉంటాను), and who will come to see you (… వస్తాడు). Then say three things you do every day, opening each with ప్రతిరోజూ. Listen to yourself: the same -తా- form is doing both jobs, and only the time word tells them apart.
