Here is the whole past tense of one verb in one place. The first two persons are easy: -ను for నేను, -వు for నువ్వు, -ము for మేము, -రు for మీరు. It is the third person that carries the extra work, and that is what this lesson is about.

ఆమె చేసింది. అది చేసింది. వాళ్ళు చేశారు. అవి చేశాయి.

Telugu does not sort nouns into masculine and feminine; it sorts them into మహత్తు (people) and అమహత్తు (everything else). In the singular the split is hidden — a woman and a thing share one form, ఆమె చేసింది and అది చేసింది. In the plural it comes out into the open: people take చేశారు (వాళ్ళు వచ్చారు, అమ్మాయిలు వచ్చారు) while things and animals take చేశాయి (బస్సులు వచ్చాయి). Choose the ending by looking at the subject, not at the meaning of the verb.

చేశాను, చేశావు, చేశాడు, చేశారు, చేశాయి — 'శ'. చేసింది — 'స'.

One small spelling habit to fix now: every form of this verb is written with శ except the one in -ఇంది, which is written చేసింది with స. The same pattern runs through చూశాడు beside చూసింది, and రాశాడు beside రాసింది. Write it that way from the start and you will never have to unlearn it.

Run the whole paradigm aloud twice, pointing at someone real for each person as you say it. Then describe your own yesterday evening in four sentences, one for each subject: yourself (నేను …), your household (మేము …), one woman in the family (ఆమె …), and the children or the buses in your street (వాళ్ళు … / అవి …). The last two are the ones to watch.
