వివరణ · Explanation

ఇప్పుడు — నేను చేస్తున్నాను. నిన్న — నేను చేశాను, నువ్వు చేశావు, అతను చేశాడు.

Until now every verb you have used ended in -తున్న- and meant 'right now'. For yesterday, that piece drops out and a past stem takes its place: చేయు gives చేశ-, and the person endings stay the same shapes you already know — -ను for నేను, -వు for నువ్వు, -డు for అతను. So చేస్తున్నాను becomes చేశాను, చేస్తున్నావు becomes చేశావు, చేస్తున్నాడు becomes చేశాడు.

వచ్చు — నేను వచ్చాను, నువ్వు వచ్చావు, అతను వచ్చాడు. వెళ్ళు — నేను వెళ్ళాను, నువ్వు వెళ్ళావు, అతను వెళ్ళాడు.

The two travel verbs behave the same way. వచ్చు 'come' has the past stem వచ్చ-, and వెళ్ళు 'go' has వెళ్ళ-. Hang the same three endings on them and you have వచ్చాను / వచ్చావు / వచ్చాడు and వెళ్ళాను / వెళ్ళావు / వెళ్ళాడు. Learn the past stem together with the verb; it is the one part you cannot predict.

నిన్న నేను బడికి వెళ్ళాను. మొన్న నేను ఇంట్లో ఉన్నాను.

నిన్న is yesterday and మొన్న is the day before yesterday. Telugu likes the time word early in the sentence, usually first, while the verb keeps its old place at the very end. Notice that the tense is carried by the verb alone — once you say వెళ్ళాను, the past is already marked, and నిన్న only tells the listener how far back.
