వివరణ · Explanation

బడిలో · ఉపాధ్యాయుడు · విద్యార్థికి · పాఠం · చెబుతున్నాడు — ఒక వాక్యంలో రెండు విభక్తులు.

Here is the sentence this lesson is built on: బడిలో ఉపాధ్యాయుడు విద్యార్థికి పాఠం చెబుతున్నాడు. Read it slot by slot — బడిలో says where, ఉపాధ్యాయుడు says who, విద్యార్థికి says to whom, పాఠం says what, and చెబుతున్నాడు closes the sentence. Nothing is repeated and nothing is ambiguous: each marker does one job, and two of them can sit in the same sentence quite happily.

-లో ఎక్కడ · -కి ఎవరికి. బడిలో ఉన్నాను. విద్యార్థికి చెబుతున్నాను.

Keep the two apart by asking a question of each. -లో answers ఎక్కడ? — the place the whole scene sits in: బడిలో, పాఠశాలలో, తరగతిలో. -కి answers ఎవరికి? — the person who receives something: విద్యార్థికి పాఠం, నాకు పుస్తకం. Because విద్యార్థి ends in ఇ it takes -కి, and the plural విద్యార్థులు takes -కు: విద్యార్థులకు.

నేర్పు — ఉపాధ్యాయుడు నేర్పుతున్నాడు. నేర్చుకొను — విద్యార్థి నేర్చుకుంటున్నాడు.

Two verbs that English hides under one idea. నేర్పు is what the teacher does (teach, impart); నేర్చుకొను is what the student does (learn, take in). Watch the agreement in the dialogue: ఉపాధ్యాయుడు చెబుతున్నాడు, but the respectful ఆయన always takes the plural ending — ఆయన చెబుతున్నారు, ఆయన నేర్పుతున్నారు. Two words for the building as well: బడి is what everyone says out loud, పాఠశాల is the formal word over the gate.

మీరే చెప్పండి · Use it

ఇప్పుడు మీరే బిగ్గరగా చెప్పండి — 'బడిలో ఉపాధ్యాయుడు విద్యార్థికి పాఠం చెబుతున్నాడు.'

Say the model sentence aloud, then rebuild it three times with your own words: change the place (పాఠశాలలో, తరగతిలో, ఇంట్లో), change the receiver (నాకు, మీకు, విద్యార్థులకు), change the thing (పాఠం, పుస్తకం, జవాబు). Keep the verb at the end every time. Finish by describing your own school day in two sentences, one with -లో and one with -కి.
