వివరణ · Explanation
'ఇప్పుడు సమయం ఎంత?' — 'ఇప్పుడు ఎనిమిది గంటలు.'
That is the whole question: ఇప్పుడు సమయం ఎంత?, word for word 'now time how much?'. The answer is a number followed by గంటలు — ఎనిమిది గంటలు is eight o'clock. Put the part of the day in front of it when it matters: ఉదయం ఎనిమిది గంటలు, సాయంత్రం ఐదు గంటలు. The numbers themselves come as a full set in level 3; here take రెండు (2), ఐదు (5) and ఎనిమిది (8) as three clock labels and nothing more.
'నిమిషం' — కొంచెం సమయం. 'ఐదు నిమిషాలు, నేను వస్తున్నాను.'
నిమిషం is the minute, plural నిమిషాలు. ఐదు నిమిషాలు, నేను వస్తున్నాను is exactly what a Telugu speaker calls out to someone waiting at the door, and it is worth learning whole. Notice that ఐదు నిమిషాలు simply stands there: Telugu adds no word for 'in' or 'for'.
ఉదయం నేను లేస్తున్నాను. మధ్యాహ్నం నేను అన్నం తింటున్నాను. సాయంత్రం నేను ఆడుతున్నాను. రాత్రి నేను పడుకుంటున్నాను.
ఉదయం, మధ్యాహ్నం, సాయంత్రం and రాత్రి are nouns, but you drop them straight into the sentence with nothing attached and they already mean 'in the morning', 'at midday', 'in the evening', 'at night'. They stand near the front, and the verb still closes the sentence. Say those four lines as one block — that is a whole day in four sentences.

అభ్యాసం · Practice
మీరే చెప్పండి · Use it
ఇప్పుడు మీరే చెప్పండి — 'ఉదయం నేను లేస్తున్నాను. మధ్యాహ్నం నేను అన్నం తింటున్నాను. సాయంత్రం నేను ఆడుతున్నాను. రాత్రి నేను పడుకుంటున్నాను.'
Say your own day aloud in four sentences, one for each part of the day, changing the verbs to whatever you really do. Then look at a clock and answer your own question out loud: ఇప్పుడు సమయం ఎంత? — and if the number is not one of the three you know yet, just say the part of the day: ఇప్పుడు సాయంత్రం.
