ఇవ్వు, తీసుకొను, పెట్టు — వస్తువు క్రియ ముందు.

వివరణ · Explanation

ఇవ్వు — నేను ఇస్తున్నాను, మీరు ఇస్తున్నారు, అతను ఇస్తున్నాడు. తీసుకొను — నేను తీసుకుంటున్నాను, అతను తీసుకుంటున్నాడు. పెట్టు — నేను పెడుతున్నాను, మీరు పెడుతున్నారు.

Three verbs that go together all day long: ఇవ్వు 'give', తీసుకొను 'take', పెట్టు 'put'. Two of them change shape a little in the present — ఇవ్వు gives ఇస్తున్నాను and పెట్టు gives పెడుతున్నాను — so learn those two forms whole. Their polite requests are ఇవ్వండి, తీసుకోండి, పెట్టండి.

సీత పండు ఇస్తున్నారు. నేను వస్తువు తీసుకుంటున్నాను.

Look at సీత పండు ఇస్తున్నారు — two plain nouns in a row, the giver and the gift, with nothing added to either, and then the verb. English has to say 'Sīta is giving me a fruit', but Telugu leaves the receiver unsaid whenever it is obvious that it is you or I. Say the two nouns, close with the verb, and the sentence is complete.

ఇక్కడ నా చెయ్యి ఉంది. మర్యాదగా — ఇవ్వండి, తీసుకోండి, పెట్టండి.

చెయ్యి is 'hand'. Around food and gifts these three requests carry most of the conversation: ఇవ్వండి when you want something passed to you, తీసుకోండి when you are offering, పెట్టండి when you want it set down. A host will press తీసుకోండి on you again and again — the polite reply is simply ధన్యవాదాలు.

Pick up three things near you and name each one as you pass it to an imaginary guest: ఇది పండు — నేను ఇస్తున్నాను, మీరు తీసుకోండి. Then take them back one by one, saying నేను తీసుకుంటున్నాను, and set each down with నేను ఇక్కడ పెడుతున్నాను. Three objects, three rounds, out loud.
