ప్రశ్న, జవాబు
Ravi, I'm going to ask you a question.
Go ahead, ask. I'll give the answer.
Which town are you from?
My town is Vijayavāḍa. That's my answer.
Yes, correct! Now you ask.
I'm all ears. What is your language?
My language is Telugu!
వివరణ · Explanation
చెప్పు — నేను చెబుతున్నాను, మీరు చెబుతున్నారు, అతను చెబుతున్నాడు. అడుగు — నేను అడుగుతున్నాను, మీరు అడుగుతున్నారు, అతను అడుగుతున్నాడు.
చెప్పు is 'say' and 'tell' together — Telugu keeps one verb where English keeps two. అడుగు is 'ask', both asking a question and asking for a thing. Their present forms are చెబుతున్నాను and అడుగుతున్నాను, and the polite requests built on them, చెప్పండి and అడగండి, are among the most useful phrases in the language.
నేను ప్రశ్న అడుగుతున్నాను. నేను జవాబు చెబుతున్నాను.
A question is a ప్రశ్న and a reply is a జవాబు, and each simply stands bare in front of its verb, just like సినిమా did with చూడు. Note the pairing Telugu prefers: you ask a ప్రశ్న and you tell a జవాబు — ప్రశ్న అడుగుతున్నాను, జవాబు చెబుతున్నాను.
మాట — మీ మాట వింటున్నాను.
మాట is a word, and by extension what somebody says. మీ మాట వింటున్నాను, literally 'I am listening to your word', is how you tell someone you are paying attention — closer to English 'I'm listening' than to anything about a single word. You will meet మాట again inside many everyday phrases.

మీరే చెప్పండి · Use it
ఇప్పుడు మీరే చెప్పండి — 'నేను ప్రశ్న అడుగుతున్నాను. మీ పేరు ఏమిటి?' తరువాత జవాబు — 'నా పేరు …'
Play both parts of an interview out loud. Announce the question first (నేను ప్రశ్న అడుగుతున్నాను), ask it (మీ పేరు ఏమిటి? మీ ఊరు ఏది? మీ భాష ఏమిటి?), then swap chairs and answer each one, opening with ఇది నా జవాబు. Three questions, three answers, without stopping.
