Hello! Is your name Sīta?
No. My name is Rādha.
Is this your house?
Yes, this is my house.
And is that one yours?
No, that one is yours!
So it is. All right, goodbye!
Explanation
To turn any statement into a yes-no question, lengthen the end of the last word with -ā: Nothing moves and nothing is added at the front — the whole question is made at the very end of the sentence, and your voice rises there.
కాదు denies an identity, and it stands at the end, after the very thing it denies: ఇది నా ఇల్లు కాదు — 'this is not my house'. Telugu has a second word for 'no', లేదు, which says instead that something does not exist; that one has its own lesson later in this level, so keep the two apart from the start.
నువ్వు (you) and నీ (your) are for a close friend, a child, a younger brother or sister — Ravi and Radha are using them with each other here. మీరు and మీ are for everybody else. The pair runs exactly parallel to When you are unsure which to use, use మీరు; a Telugu speaker will never take offence at too much respect.

Practice
Use it
Take three sentences you already know and make a question of each by lengthening the last word: Then answer your own questions aloud, once with అవును and once with కాదు, remembering that కాదు comes at the very end of the sentence it denies. Close the exchange the way Ravi does, with సరే.
