వినండి · Listen

రేడియోలో ఒక పాట

సీత — ఈ పాట విన్నావా? ఇప్పుడే రేడియోలో వచ్చింది.
Did you hear this song? It just came on the radio.
రవి — విన్నాను. కానీ నాకు అన్ని పదాలు అర్థం కాలేదు.
I heard it. But I did not understand all the words.
సీత — మొదట అన్నీ అర్థం కావు. పర్వాలేదు!
At first not everything will be clear. Never mind!
సీత — పల్లవి మళ్ళీ మళ్ళీ వస్తుంది. దాన్ని పట్టుకో.
The refrain comes again and again. Catch that.
రవి — సరే. వెన్నెల, కళ్ళు, మనసు — ఈ మూడు పదాలు నాకు అర్థమయ్యాయి.
All right. Moonlight, eyes, heart — those three words I understood.
సీత — బాగుంది! ఈ పాటలో సంగీతం మెల్లగా ఉంటుంది, అందుకే పదాలు స్పష్టంగా వినిపిస్తాయి.
Good! The music in this song is slow, so the words are heard clearly.
రవి — సినిమా పాటలో నృత్యం ఉంటే, పదాలు చాలా వేగంగా వస్తాయి.
When there is dancing in a film song, the words come very fast.
సీత — అవును. మొదట ఒక జానపద పాట విను. అందులో పదాలు సులభమైనవి.
Yes. Listen to a folk song first. The words in it are easy.

వివరణ · Explanation

పాట వింటున్నప్పుడు అన్ని పదాలు అర్థం కావు. అది సాధారణం. తెలిసిన పదాలు మాత్రం పట్టుకోండి.

A song is the one kind of Telugu that repeats itself for you. Do not chase every word — you will lose the line and stop listening. The పల్లవి (refrain) returns after every stanza, so give it your whole attention the second and third time it comes round; each of the చరణం stanzas between refrains you can let wash past. Ten known words caught in three minutes is a good hour's work.

పాటలోని తెలుగు మాటల తెలుగు కాదు. అందులో పాత రూపాలు ఉంటాయి, పదాల వరుస కూడా మారుతుంది.

Song Telugu is not conversation Telugu. Because the line has to fit the tune, the poet stretches vowels, drops endings, and moves words out of their ordinary order — the verb may not even come last. Older, more literary word-forms are common too, the గ్రాంథికం side of the language you met earlier. So do not take a song line as a model for your own speaking; take it as ear training and as vocabulary.

సంగీతం బాగుంది. ఆమె స్వరం బాగుంది. ఈ పాటలో నృత్యం ఉంది. — ఇలా చెప్పండి.

Four words let you talk about what you heard. పాట is the song, సంగీతం the music, నృత్యం the dance, and స్వరం a musical note or the singing voice — for the plain speaking voice, everyday Telugu says గొంతు. String them together in the sentence patterns you already have: ఈ పాట నాకు ఇష్టం, సంగీతం చాలా బాగుంది, ఆమె స్వరం తియ్యగా ఉంది.

ఒక తెలుగు పాట ఎంచుకోండి. మూడు సార్లు వినండి. తెలిసిన ఐదు పదాలు రాసుకోండి. తరువాత మూడు వాక్యాలు చెప్పండి.

Choose any Telugu song you like — a film song or a folk song — and play it three times. The first time, just let it run. The second time, write down every word you recognise, even if it is only ఒక or కళ్ళు. The third time, listen only for the పల్లవి. Then say three sentences aloud about it: ఈ పాట పేరు …, ఇందులో సంగీతం …, నాకు … పదం అర్థమైంది.
