వివరణ · Explanation

ఇంటికి వస్తున్నారు · ఇంట్లో ఉన్నాము · ఇంటి ముందు ఉన్నారు · ఇంటి దగ్గర దారి ఉంది.

Look at how much work one little house does in this scene. ఇంటికి is the goal of motion, ఇంట్లో is inside, ఇంటి ముందు is in front of it, ఇంటి దగ్గర is near it. The stem ఇంటి- stays the same and only the ending changes, and each ending answers a different question. Read the dialogue again and find all four.

అతిథిని పలకరిస్తున్నాను — కర్మ. అతిథికి అన్నం పెడుతున్నాను — ఎవరికి.

The same guest appears twice with two different markers. అతిథిని is the person the action lands on, and because a person is మహత్తు the -ని is obligatory — you cannot say అతిథి పలకరిస్తున్నాను. అతిథికి is the person the food is for. Notice గదిని in the same dialogue: a definite object, this particular room, so it too takes the marker.

పదాల వరుస స్వేచ్ఛ — క్రియ మాత్రం చివర. ఇంట్లో అమ్మ వంట చేస్తోంది = అమ్మ ఇంట్లో వంట చేస్తోంది.

Because every noun carries its own marker, Telugu does not need a fixed order to keep the roles straight. ఇంట్లో అమ్మ వంట చేస్తోంది and అమ్మ ఇంట్లో వంట చేస్తోంది say the same thing; the word you put first is simply the one you are drawing attention to. One rule holds firm through all of it: the verb stands last. And ముందు works both in space and in time — ఇంటి ముందు is 'in front of the house', while భోజనానికి ముందు, with -కి, is 'before the meal'.

మీరే చెప్పండి · Use it

ఇప్పుడు మీ ఇంట్లో ఒక రోజు చెప్పండి — 'ఇంట్లో …', 'ఇంటికి …', 'ఇంటి ముందు …', '… ని …', '… కి …'.

Describe your own day at home in five sentences, and make each one carry a different marker: one with -లో for where you are, one with -కి for somewhere you are going, one with ముందు or దగ్గర for what stands near the house, one with -ని for something you are cleaning or reading, and one with -కి for someone you are giving something to. Keep every verb at the end. Then say the five sentences again in a different order and hear how nothing breaks.
